HOLCOMB RETURNS TO FT. LEONARD WOOD
Q: Dennis, it's been 35 years since you were at Ft. Leonard Wood for engineer training. Why did you go back now?
A: It's less than 200 miles away and I wanted to see what changes had been made there since 1972.
Q: How has it changed?
A: The first thing you notice is that all the buildings are brick. No more wooden barracks! There are only a few left standing for show. And all the roads are paved now. I remember a lot of gravel roads back then. Everything was very impressive.
The whole post has been modernized.
Q: What did you think of the engineer museum?
A: The John B. Mahaffey Museum Complex includes the Chemical, Engineer, MP, and Ft. Leonard Wood museums. It is a beautiful facility. The Engineer museum is easy to navigate and is intereting to any and all engineers. A real history lesson.

Special thanks to Glenn A. Stines CSM USA Retired , regimental store manager, for his guidance and information on the 130th.
He is a great guy and was very helpful. He had a lot of information about the 130th Bde and the 54th Bn.
Q: What did you learn about the 54th and the 130th?
A: Well, this is big news, earlier this year I found out that the 130th Engineer Brigade is moving to Hawaii. Now, CSM Stines told me that the 54th is not going to Hawaii, they are staying in Bamberg and will be coming under the command of the 18th Engineer Brigade, no longer with the 130th!
THE 54TH ENGINEER BN IS STAYING IN BAMBERG AND IS NOW UNDER THE COMMAND OF THE 18TH ENGINEER BDE!
